Licensing and setup
No. PrimeMail connects directly to your existing mail host over IMAP and SMTP, and stores messages in your own WordPress database. There is no PrimeMail cloud in the middle, and no third party ever holds your mail.
Any provider that offers standard IMAP and SMTP, which is nearly all of them — cPanel and Plesk hosting, Zoho, Fastmail, most business hosts. Gmail and Microsoft 365 work where IMAP access with an app password is permitted; sign-in through a Google or Microsoft account is not supported.
PrimeMail runs on a dedicated hostname such as app.yourdomain.com, pointed at the same WordPress installation. Your main site is untouched: visitors never load PrimeMail’s code, and the plugin never changes your theme, your pages or your WooCommerce store.
WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 8.0 or newer, HTTPS, and the IMAP and SMTP details for the mailbox you want to use. A subdomain for the app, and a real server cron so mail syncs when nobody has the tab open.
PrimeMail checks your mailboxes on a schedule, so mail appears after the next sync rather than the instant it is delivered. With a one-minute server cron that is usually under a minute. If synchronisation is not running, notifications cannot arrive at all — the documentation covers setting it up.
As many as your licence allows. Each person signs in with their own WordPress account and PrimeMail role, so you control who can read which mailboxes, who can assign conversations and who can change settings.
One WordPress installation, plus a staging copy of that same site. It includes plugin updates and support for the period stated at purchase. PrimeMail keeps working when a licence lapses — it simply stops receiving updates until you renew.
Yes. PrimeMail reads and writes over IMAP like any other client, so read state, sent mail and folders stay in step with Outlook, Apple Mail or your webmail. You are never locked in, and nothing stops you switching back.
Your mail is still on your mail server, exactly where it was. PrimeMail is a way of working with it, not the only copy of it.
